Team Forever Motivational Speaking

Last week was quite busy, as I had the blessing of being able to speak with three separate groups! Although each speech was tailored to the individual crowd, they centered around ‘Goal Setting’ and having the mindset to know that anything is possible!

We focused on the following sport psychology terms:

OUTCOME GOALS (i.e. Oceans Seven)

PERFORMANCE GOALS (improving my mile split in the open water)

PROCESS GOALS (focusing on correct hand placement, hip rotation and a solid kick).

Focusing on your process goals helps with your performance goals which in turn give you the best opportunity to accomplish your outcome goal!

The Seton Hills Girls Volleyball are a dedicated group of ladies who excelled on the court, and were very excited for their upcoming championship matches this past weekend! They did a great job, and for the first time in the history of the school program, they were able to take 2nd place overall –GREAT JOB LADIES!!

I tailored their speech to focus on the mental aspect of the coming days prior to their big match, the day of the championships and to focus on their individual process goals that contributed to their performance on the court. When each of them shined, the team would shine! We also reviewed how to handle adversity (i.e. when they were scored upon) and how each of them individually contributed to the success of the program!

Seton LaSalle High School hosted me with open arms, as Judy C. was gracious enough to set up the event and bring her students, Masters swimming team as well as other faculty members from the Catholic high school. Aside from setting goals throughout the year, I reviewed the importance of my faith in action, volunteerism, and how each and every one of the kids should pray they have the chance to find their ‘calling’ in life. Overall, it was a great experience and we were able to raise $556 for the evening event! Very exciting indeed…

My final speech of the week was to the ‘All-Pro Dad’ charity group at Sloan Elementary on Friday morning. ‘All-Pro Dad’  (https://www.allprodad.com) is a charitable program founded by NFL coach Tony Dungy which features fathers and their children listening to a speaker, and then following up with an activity they can both share. I spoke to the children about process and performance goals (studying and getting an ‘A’ each 9-weeks in class) which will allow them to achieve their ‘A’ (outcome goals) for the year in their classes. We had a great time, as it was AWESOME hearing all the questions (especially about sharks) the kids were able to ask! A truly worthwhile charity indeed!!

Each of my speeches center around different topics, as I simply chose ‘Goal Setting’ for these three in particular. Sport psychology has so many amazing topics to choose from, I could never run out of ideas to utilize.
